No Digital camera ATM. Help if available please.

KindCrystals- They may be small but they look nice and green and healthy. Don't worry about the size yet - they'll reach a growth spurt and take off suddenly. I've had one plant grow over three inches in just 5 days! Shorter and bushy isn't so bad actually. Did you top it for multiple colas...

    CFL Grow

Right now I'm doing my first grow...I started with 6 plants, but now have 8 because two of them are the tops I cloned after using Uncle Bens topping technique. At the moment they are doing pretty good under just 8 daylight (6500k)CFLs. I'm sure I could have bigger plants with HID lighting, but...

Lighting after germination and before spouting

Yeah, one or two CFLs for heat should be enough to get them started. Once they break the soil, they NEED the light, so you want it there in case they peek through when you aren't around. Be careful not to burn them, but keep the light fairly close (2-4") so they don't stretch too much. The...

    first grow

Welcome B16! Here is a link to a very informative thread from a veteran grower here. Uncle Ben knows his stuff! https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/267989-uncle-bens-gardening-tweeks-pointers.html

    first plant

If you only have the one plant, a pair of 6500k bulbs (100w equivalent or better) will get you through for a little while. The 2700k are better than nothing, but switch to those "daylight" 6500k bulbs as soon as you can. (They even sell them in grocery stores by me.) Get a "Y" splitter to...

    first plant

Get at least a few of the 26w CFLs (100w equivalent) and make sure they are the "daylight" or 6500k spectrum. Later, when you put them into 12/12 light schedule for flowering you will want to change to the 2700k CFLs that give more of the red spectrum light. Keep the lights close (1-2" away)...

Pics are from a cheap cell phone. Thats what size they show up when I download here - have to figure out how to change size on em.

Is this over watering...or something else?

Here are the girls (I hope) on day 42 (except for the second pic of the Blue Mystic that is only 36 days old). They are shown in the same order as the last photos above so you can compare growth. I think they're showing some good progress for just another weeks time. The one Short Rider seems...

    Will these lights be sufficient?

If you have dollar stores near you, buy some silver mylar type gift wrapping. It comes either by the roll or in plastic bags of multiple sheets. Just paper the walls of your grow box with it (double stick tape works well for that). The CFLs will work, but from what I hear from veteran...

You clone a clone...but should you top a top?

I used rooting powder I got from Home Depot and then put into a small 5oz cup with soil. I tried them in water first for a few days cause I'm a newbie and didn't know better. I have rooted other plants that way before.) Once I decided they were not going to root in the water, I got the root...

18/6 lights-to 16/8 then 14/10 before 12/12 -anyone have experience with this method?

So Cowboy, you didn't see any slow down in growth by cutting the lights back to only 14 or 16 hours a day? I just don't want to stunt size any. Putting the lights out for more hours a day would save a tiny bit (using CFLs) of electricity, but not enough to be worth it if the plants suffer for it.

    Buying seeds

Had good experience with Nirvanashop.com and they ship stealth for a reasonable price. Customer service is great and my stuff arrived within a week to the Eastern US.

Help!!! I cannot germinate white widow!

Sorry to hear about the WW...sometimes you do get a bad batch. My first seed buy was also a ten pack (Short Rider) that not a single seed germed from. I was able to get them to credit me for them. I'm a new grower, so I was trying every method to germinate that I read was successful - not a...

You clone a clone...but should you top a top?

Right now, I have tops of two plants that I grew from seed and I've put them in soil as clones. The plants they came off of are both producing growth for 4 colas now. The cuttings (tops) have rooted and are starting to show decent growth in the last few days. I know if I leave them be, they...

Where to top / fim her at?

If you want to have 4 main colas, you would wait until you have a plant with at least 4-5 nodes (looks like yours already has that), then top just above the 2nd true node. If you do it correctly, you should see the plant send up new growth from the nodes you have left that will grow into the...

You clone a clone...but should you top a top?

Yeah, I also have two top cuttings currently growing. They took a while to root, but I attribute that to my newbie errors. They are both now showing some decent growth in the last two days, but they're still pretty short. I have yet to take them out from the lights to get a really good look...

You clone a clone...but should you top a top?

So I know that many growers take clones from clones, basically keeping the same plant reproduced for a very long time. My question is, would it be the same thing to grow a top out after topping a plant - and then topping that top, and so on... When you plant a top that was clipped from a new...

18/6 lights-to 16/8 then 14/10 before 12/12 -anyone have experience with this method?

I read somewhere about a gradual shift toward the 12/12 lighting schedule for flowering. It suggests that from the 18/6 lights, you lower to 16/8, and then 14/10 before the 12/12 final for flowering. The point was to avoid stressing the plant by giving it a week at each light level on the way...
