For that small of area you need the cooltube, to get the light close to the top of the plants closer you can get the light better harvest. With out the cooltube i had to have them 2 feet away from the lights lots of strech and they still burnt plus the temp was 85 at the coldest. cooltubes...

Wouldnt think it would hurt them to much if you just put the roots in then maybe a few pellets then more roots so on. Just water the pellets a little so they can help the roots allong until they get some water.

i have that same light, cords are long enough for the ballast to reach outside the room. I made mine into a cooltube was not to hard, takes a little time and some know how.

OK HTG is good but i found http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/ has better prices and more prodcuts to choose from. Cooltube If your not doing a cooltube its going to get hot really hot, i would at least do a DIY cooltube, closer you can get the lights to the top of the plants the better...
