how many times do i top or FIM?

What difference would it make if I grew them 8 feet instead of 12 if there is very little side lighting.My idea is to grow a canopy of colas and cut off most of the bottom growth that is only going to produce tiny buds.All I want is maximum yield from this set-up.If no one wants to help me out...

I was thinking two month's or less of veg because I dont want for them to get bigger than 8 feet.What I want to know is if doing a SCROG set-up will increase the yield by alot or do I just top several times.
