    ChilLed New Cob Replacement

There's this one from RapidLED: https://www.rapidled.com/emerson-effect-booster-board/ HLG had one too, but I don't see it on their site now. Might just be because it's out of stock.

    ChilLed New Cob Replacement

I've seen far red strips, but I haven't seen enhanced strips of similar size and power-capacity as - for example - the Samsung F Series. Some 22", 72-diode, 50w strips with a small percentage of far red, perhaps. Something that would take advantage of the popularity that strips are enjoying...

    Looking for cob lighting

Strips are absolutely equal to COBs. Many here would say they're better because they offer more points of light, which is supposed to create a better spread (though I have seen arguments to counter that). In any case, there are strip-light growers all over this forum now, and more jump aboard...

    Looking for cob lighting

Are you married to the idea of COBs, or would you consider using strips? The Samsung F Series strips have proven to be extremely popular. The Bridgelux EB Series is also a solid option for a strip-based fixture. COBs would work just fine too, but strip lights seem to be cheaper, on average...

    NoTillPhil's 2018 Backyard Tree Mission

Awesome. One of these days I'm just going to say "Fuck the neighbors" and go ahead with an outdoor crop. I'm a medical patient, so the legality isn't an issue, but my wife and kids have to get along with some of the people who live around us, and I don't want them to have to deal with the drama...

^^^^100%. If you need the heat, HPS can't be beat.

Viparspectra thoughts from people that have used them

If you want 'hard" proof (apart from grow journals), you'll need to do a deeper dive on the underlying science. As @coreywebster said, it's all about efficiency. Those blurples simply do not put out as much light, watt-for-watt, as Quantum Boards. If you truly wish to understand, there are many...

Viparspectra thoughts from people that have used them

Yes, this is also a great option. Cheap and simple. As long as he can vent the heat, a 400w HPS would suit that space well. But if the space can't take that much heat, he might as well spend more for an LED that can do what the 400w of HID can do, but for less wattage/heat.

https://growerslights.com/collections/led-grow-lights/products/horticulture-lighting-group-260-watt-quantum-board-led-kit ^^This place will put it together for you ($305 if you DIY, $330 if they build it for you). And yes, this will absolutely outperform your 300w blurple. (This is a 260w...

So four and a half feet is the upper limit of your space? You probably won't need much more than 200 watts in that space. Buy HLG's 260w Quantum Board kit and dim it down. Only a little more money than the Viparspectra, but so very, very worth it. Low profile too.

Viparspectra thoughts from people that have used them

Well, it isn't a 900 watt light. It's a 418 watt light. And though it will certainly grow plants, you'll probably be dissatisfied and will end up spending a little more for something much better, later on. We see questions like this almost every day, and the advice most of us give is that these...

    DIY with Quantum Boards

Just checked the website. They need some design tweaks and, more importantly, a mobile app. But here's hoping they make a success of it.
