Hey man, you should start a journal since you are getting everything together! It's a good way to organize and help "flesh out" your thoughts and ideas. Check mine out, the link is in my signiture. Although, I've been a little slack on my journal recently, i think it's a good tool! Good Luck!!!

    would these cfls work

That's what I use. I've read they seem to be the best compromise as far as effeciency (Lumen/watt) vs. heat output vs. expense. Plus they're available EVERYWHERE! See what works best for you, your space and your plants. I've read and learned a lot here, and then I've gone out and experimented...

    would these cfls work

Take a look at this, https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/723-things-know-about-lighting.html Great Info on here! Thanks, matth82003!! Calculate the Area of your grow space, then determine the amount of lumens per foot you need. Each bulb will tell you it's lumen output on the...

    I need help BIG TIME!

Did all the leaves fall off? Is that why they look so leggy? How close is your light to the plants? I realize it's a MH light and heat & space may be an issue too. Maybe the lack of scale in the picture is making them appear that leggy? But I tend to agree with Snow Crash, they look light hungry.

    I need help BIG TIME!

Are you going to water them, "feed" them, AND give them nutrients? I must be reading this wrong. What is your water scheduling? And what is your nutrient schedule? These aren't necessarly the same, especially since you are growing in soil. Look through this...

We want help, not flaming posts and unhelpful criticism.

While I haven't been a direct recipient of extreme examples of this, I've certainly read them here. Let me just say, Yes, I'm new at this, but so were all of us at one point. Yes, I may ask a question that has been asked before, then enlighten me with your knowledge. Yes, I'm going to make...

Hey man, just added you, sorry took so long to get back on here. I've been reading your Journal, the girls look good!! I'll try to get some diagram of the flood drain system up, while it still has wicks, I haven't had good luck keeping water in the resivior. The plants get either nutrient...

    Anyone like wick systems?

So, since overwatering may be an issue with my modified wick / flood drain system, I'm thinking about pulling the wicks and just going flood and drain. Anybody have opinions on wick systems? I liked the idea of a no hassle watering schedule since I go out of town from time to time, but don't...

No new nutrients added, but getting nutrient burn?

Yeah, I understand that, but I was thinking the straight Perilite would give the roots enough air space to get the oxygen they need. Perhaps I should pull the wicks out and go with a straight flood and drain system? I have to go out of town often for work, the ease and peace of mind of the wick...

No new nutrients added, but getting nutrient burn?

So, perhaps it's the actual wick system? I top water the plants with a gallon of pH adjusted water, approximately every three to four days, the excess water drains into the resovior where the wick system takes over and keeps them moist over the next three days or so. I'm using nesting 15 liter...

No new nutrients added, but getting nutrient burn?

Good morning all, Checked on the babies this morning and noticed some yellow tips, slightly curled leaves, and some dark almost "alligator skin" looking areas. It looks like nutrient burn to me, however I didn't add any nutrients when I watered last time 2 days ago? Only pH adjusted water...
