Light is takin in by the foilage( a little by the stem) this is the beggining of the photosynthesis process....until it breaks the ground light is not neccesary

85 is not terrible.. I would have a fan blowing on the plants to strengthen their stems though

I would do that to, Ive never had a 100W so I dont know the heat output from them but I would assume it would be a little more, so I would back off about 2 inches as well...
