You should do drain to waste or drip feed no runoff with coco. Ebb and grow could introduce problem's for people new to hydro, also there isn't really a fail safe with ebb and grow if you fuck up once your plant's could be dead very quickly.

I have a ebb and grow I don't water during light's off but it is just personal preference.
