Generally the plant will be its healthiest when its younger. Just like humans. Look for videos of people flowering their mother plants which some are 2+ years old I’ve seen. Turns out not to be as good quality as a young clone from it. Quality degrades with time.

Trichomes on sugar leaf will turn amber much sooner than trichomes on the actual bud itself . I believe where you see the amber is on the sugar leaf. Also, keep The pets out of the grow tent!
