Ya they do that. I have had some stand right back up no matter how much I bent them, but still caused the bottoms to catch up. I had a top that got broken and was lying down and it basically just grew a knot and stayed where it was. The bud was still nice and big it just never stood back up...

I break tops and leave them bent at 90 degrees if they grow too high. They always finish fine.
