I'm guessing male cuz it doesn't look like the other one I have, that I believe is female because I can see the hairs. I keep hearing that males show first but on 7 of my 10 plants I see hairs and no obvious balls on the other three (including this one).

As for people making this "hobby" more difficult than it is... I guess it all depends on your expectations. You "could" throw some bag seeds in the pot and hope... or you could try and learn how to grow "A Grade". From what I hear its 50/50 genetics/care as to how good your end product will be...
