Yeah I mean if your using a screen over them the pot size shouldn't matter too much on its height. I use 10 + gallons pots without a Scrog net, just some LST and the top of my light stays around 6 feet so you should be fine!

The bigger the pot the better the yield. I'd day 7 is a pretty good size for only a month of veg. You could do a little bigger like 10 just to insure you have enough roots space. Best of luck with the grow!

Northern lights is a good one to begin on, it's easy to grow and will give you some good smoke. Or yeah just do a variety and see what ya like best.
