lighting help, new to indoor growing...

6 T5 tubes over 4 or 5' seems lean. If you train, and don't get too big, could be OK. My T5 fixture has 4x2' tubes in ~14". Maybe ~3" separation between tubes. You are going to have 2 together, then 10" gap? then another fixture, etc. You have already bought the T5? If not, your operation...

lighting help, new to indoor growing...

Sure, it would work. 2 rows of 4 plants under 4' lamps. I am currently vegging 2 plants under 2' T5. Works well. How long do you plan to veg? You may have some space & canopy penetration issues with your setup if veg for a long time with no training for plants. I got a small grow box, and I...

lighting help, new to indoor growing...

If you got the room and the $$$ and can keep the temps down, go big! For 8 plants, I would also consider a 600W min. I don't like the 150 size. For HID, I think 400W is the min (good for a ~2.5x2.5' space). For bigger spaces, get a bigger lamp. I have a 4x2' T5 for vegging, then a separate...

FIRST GROW: Nirvana Blue Mystic & Nirvanaa Bubblelicious

Let's not say stupid, but maybe 'killing with kindness'?!? The seedlings do look like they are having a hard time. Be patient, maybe less water, and easy on the plant food. I have not grow in coco, but your seedlings should not need food right away. The first set of leaves should not turn yellow.

FIRST GROW: Nirvana Blue Mystic & Nirvanaa Bubblelicious

You might want to consider some 'beer can' reflectors for those CFLs. There are a couple of DIY thread out there for this simple project. I added these to my last CFL germination & very please with the results. I have a fan blowing on my plants & the CFL ~1.5" away from tops. Worked great!

upgraded grow room: Few questions remain.

You may struggle to light all your space. It is tough to provide illumination to a rectangular space with one light source. I think I saw a reference document that said a 400W lamp was ideal for 2x2 space (may have been 2.5x2.5). Ever thought of dividing your space in half? veg one side, flower...

    HPS question.

I like the 250 better than the 150. If you get a fan to cool the lamp, I still like a 400W. It is a better fit for a 3x3 space, and may work better for your next grow area! You could still have a good grow with the 250. I got a Can fan RS4 off ebay for $90. I wanted a quality, quiet fan for...

    Fans on during lights off?

Depends! I leave my circulation fan on 24/7 If you use a fan to cool your lamp, you could turn that off when you lamp goes off. Just monitor you temps & humidity to make sure it stays in a good range. Some people modulate the fan speed based on the room temperature. I also leave my lamp fan on...

    HPS question.

Are you going to have an air cooled reflector? w/exhaust (not just circulation)? A 3x3' footprint can support a 400+ W lamp.

is this a good inline fan?

$40 is pretty cheap for this type of fan. Never seen a centrifugal this low. Could be a good deal. ~210cfm I have never hear of the brand. Might be a bit loud but should work. What are you doing with the fan? Just circulation/exhaust? Or are you cooling a lamp? pulling through a filter?

    Lights, height and strain...?

Helllooooo oliverdolls! First post w/a lot of questions! i had to get the calculator out! If you can afford 4x1000W lamps & keep them cool, great! Do you have a separate area for vegging your plants? germination? You may want to divide your room to have separate areas. Posting this in the...

3rd Grow - Can You Think of Anything Else?

I like the google list ! Here are a couple of thoughts: I don't see anything about odor control. Even in a legal state, odor control can be important to reduce nuisance and improve security. The fan cfm (and cost) may be a bit small, especially if you are going to add a filter. What about...

Few questions before I start my first grow

I don't think a wall A/C unit bring fresh air in. Most just recirculate & cool the air. The back of the unit is outside & used to vent heat and condensate. You may need a way to bring air in, and exhaust air out.

First Indoor Grow - Nirvana Royal Flush

Sounds good. Indoor grows usually include odor control. Not sure if this is a concern for you, but this is one of the things to consider when you move inside.

can someone reccomend a speed controller for my fan?

High flow also add to your noise and may use your filter up prematurely. If you can manage the heat, turn the fan down!
