Controversial indeed. Thing is, if you don't flush you might end up smoking your herb and getting some pretty dark ashes. That's from all the nutrients left behind in the plant. By flushing it's not like you completely "clean" the plant inside. But you do contribute to diluting the nute salt...

I'm running a 150w right now, and you can check it in my signature. From experience, I'd say you will be better off looking into COB LED lighting, LEDs like the Vero 29 and the CXA3070 are tha bomb. There are a lot of DIY light builds here on RIU. Search for growers like SupraSPL...
