Burning Smell coming from MH/HPS 600 watt grow light

On second advice, you should pick up some contact cleaner, disconnect your lamp holder from the ballast and take the lamp and holder outside to a ventilated area and give them both a good hosing with the cleaner spray. Give it at least 30mins to dry and reconnect. Let us know how you go... ;)...

Burning Smell coming from MH/HPS 600 watt grow light

If your skin/fingertip/anything other than a clean microfiber cloth touched the bulb... it is most likely on the way to stuffed land ;) Could be a manufacturing fault.. perhaps? Did you touch the bulb at all...? If you did, I have seen some success using a electrical contact cleaner on the...

    grow room issues

I like this honesty Thunderrod ;) Ive been growing about the same amount of time and I still make mistakes... not because I don't learn or know but because I always experiment and push the boundaries ;) You have to know the rules before you can break the rules imo ;) For the OP, I dont beleive...

4x4 tent. 400w.. How many plants is good?

I think SXLstew is also right ;) You can fit a lot of plants in a 4x4 successfully and with little to no humidity issues, if you use the correct ventilation. Many growers do the same thing, even really packed SOG's... my advice was given on the basis that you appeared to be a newbie and in most...

4x4 tent. 400w.. How many plants is good?

1000w HPS in a 4x4 tent (4 plants) is pushing the limits (reason why I said defoliation) It can work really well, but it pushes the limits. There is something that I am about to try/experiment with now that was inspired by a peer using 600w bare bulbs around trees (1 plant surrounded by 4x 600w)...

4x4 tent. 400w.. How many plants is good?

4x4... 4 plants, 1 each corner, vertical hanging bulb with fan underneath, 4-6 weeks veg with 600w MH, 1x 600w HPS for flower (1000w if you use defoliation technique) Too many plants = too much humidity in my experience, but try what works for you ;) That was just my wham bam answer! lol...

    Veg questions

I actually really like SoCal88's method *claps* ^^ Even though most outdoor solar panels/garden lighting are tweaked to come on right on dusk when things are getting just a little too dark, it would be effective even if it only last 3-4 hours min. It wont be giving your plants any vegetative...

Does adding cannabis oil to your roots cause a higher THC concentration in the plant?

If you are what you eat... does that mean cannibals are the only true humans....?

    Veg questions

I think a more organised approach would be better than a 'Blackbox' The use of Black Boxes seem more efficient to be used in the summer months to cut down the light, 12 hours from sunrise, close the box, no ventilation required as it is only sealed for 6 hours, then reopen and it is ready for...

Does adding cannabis oil to your roots cause a higher THC concentration in the plant?

From what I know... THC is dictated by the genetic potential of the plant, how well you grow the plant to it's potential and harvesting at the correct period (and of course the curing process) Of the 3, imo harvesting correctly is the most important. The thread below which you should have sought...

    Veg questions

I think what Walter means is that the amount of time you veg indoors is limited by the amount time you have left in your winter before spring when the days start to become longer again. Imagine flowering a 12 week plant at 12/12 and then in the last few weeks you start to change the lighting...

    Pot Bound in flower

Id say just give it a little bump with an organic bud booster for a few weeks. Organic should hope to improve your BRIX levels. I also like to use powdered seaweed extract with all of my waterings, great for roots and all round healthy plants/immune. Most people water one feed, then nutes the...

where to go from here after accidental stretching, and a few other desired opinions

... and never be afraid of making mistakes, you learn the most from them. It's better to make mistakes than never understanding how you got things right ;)

where to go from here after accidental stretching, and a few other desired opinions

If you are having continuing issues with stretch using cfl's... just bring the light right down ;) Too much direct heat that results in burning of the seedling is the issue, not so much the light. Most people always draw the conclusion that distance = heat, but it is relative to the bulb type...

First ever indoor grow but what seeds to order?

For the hell of it... a good all rounder/great smoke/easy to grow/good yield Id have a look at 'Sensi Star' Solid strain and pedigree would make a great first grow ;) Cheers Jimmy

where to go from here after accidental stretching, and a few other desired opinions

As above... bury the stems in your next re-pot (preferably soon) The stem that ends up under the ground will become a root, just dont make the medium to wet or you will risk stem rot ;) https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/429767-replant-those-long-stretchy-stems.html Cheers Jimmy.

    Pot Bound in flower

If you can get her to get close to finish just before the cold snap... it should finish a little bit earlier and give you amazing resin production! Ive seen old school growers time their outdoors nearly to the week (back before the global weather turned haywire) and the resin was just wow for an...

Is this mother big enough to take 6 clones off her? (Pics)

If she is mature, then I would agree with the pinching ;) Or you can top above the second node and use the top as a clone, also works just fine ;) How you train a plant is all about the purpose of the plant ;) Good luck! Cheers Jimmy.

    Veg questions

Your welcome you're Highness *bows* ^^ Tea Tree can be used as a foilar throughout, but not in late harvest directly on the buds. It can be used however in the early stages of flowering just when the buds are begining to prevent inner bud rot at the end of flower ;) Here is a thread I created...
