    CSI humboldt thread

Has anyone grown their UK Cheese S1? My wife likes Cheese for pain relief. We are growing our own Cheese hybrids now and I would like to get some of the original DNA to work with if possible. I have bought other beans from CSI and no complaints.

    Trim Jail is Hell

This reminds me of listening to my grandparents talk about how they grew up on farms and had to work as unpaid labor for their parents, shucking corn or whatever. Trimming reminds me of cleaning fish: it’s not much fun and your hands get disgustingly sticky. That’s why I don’t mind letting my...

Observation about effects of uncured flowers on grumpy old men

I have always been a bit skeptical of the “science” of curing flowers, but I have to admit that over the last year or so my wife and I have noticed that if we test-vape dried flowers before allowing them to cure for a few weeks, they are more likely to make us what the medical professionals call...

“LAPD investigating after body found in fire at ‘clandestine’ cannabis lab in Green Meadows”

Police are saying that the lab was making butane hash oil. The neighborhood is near Firestone and the 110. https://www.cannabisbusinessexecutive.com/2024/02/lapd-investigating-after-body-found-in-fire-at-clandestine-cannabis-lab-in-green-meadows/

    Creeper weed?

Some strains do this. I think it is more likely to happen when harvested early or not cured long enough. I remember hearing about “creeper weed” from a pothead when we were both in the 8th grade in San Antonio in the 1970s. This would have most likely been really cheap Mexican stuff smuggled in...

    Gorilla Glue #4 (Clone-Run)

How tall do you expect them to get? I have a few Glue seeds that I hope to plant one day.

    Mailing clones

I have heard that you can put a cutting in a refrigerator for a couple of weeks and it will still root if you don’t let it get too dry. I tried it a couple times and was not impressed with the results. Last time I tried I got no roots. Still, it seems like it ought to be possible if you want to...

What do you guys use for curing and long term storage?

My wife is in charge of curing. We use amber Mason jars with Boveda 62 percent humidity packs for curing. When we need to store the flowers long-term we put them in Alovian pouches.

Is Caffeine a new strain or just a re-branding of Green Crack?

Dispensaries in my part of SoCal have been selling clones of a strain called Caffeine. I found some information online that makes me wonder if it’s not just a new name for Green Crack. The clones are listed on Weedmaps and usually the dispensaries are supplied by Clone Guy but I went to his...

    Trimming/Pruning In Flower

I would go ahead with pruning if you think the plants need it. Plants look fine to me.

I bought an assortment of beneficial mites. How can I tell if they are doing the job?

No, the harvested plants are not in the photos. We expect another crop around New Year.

I bought an assortment of beneficial mites. How can I tell if they are doing the job?

The plants are looking okay so far. We harvested a couple today. I have not seen any strands of silk, but some leaves have taken a beating.

I bought an assortment of beneficial mites. How can I tell if they are doing the job?

I looked at a couple leaves with a magnifying glass. I can see three kinds of tiny critters. Some are light green or maybe translucent. Others are larger and dark green or black. A few are smallish and red-orange. So far I have not seen any obvious predation.

I bought an assortment of beneficial mites. How can I tell if they are doing the job?

I got these from Amazon. This is the first time I have tried beneficials. The predators are supposed to be “A.cucumeris, N. californicus, P. persimilis. and A. swirskii.” I bought some sachets of N. californicus earlier but I didn’t see a lot of activity and was worried that the mites died in...

    Systemic spinosad for mites?

This says it works when applied to tomato roots in rockwool. Some sources say spinosad becomes systemic to an extent if applied to leaves, but I am guessing this would affect the whole plant. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16180075/

    Idk...

Just a guess, but maybe some flowers got pollinated and dropped their pistils. You said it’s all on one side, so that makes me think a cloud of pollen got blown onto the plants. Other than that, no idea.
