Ah, no. I would probably not mail anything that's not rooted.
The best way to ship plants is to cut a hard piece of cardboard or wood, the same size as the base of the box, mount your rooted plant on that base, tape or wire the pot to the board and then fill it in with styrofoam peanuts.

Ah, why not the plant less requirments before it has roots, so you don't have to build an entire grow box
like you suggested, if you want it rooted wrap it in most newspaper, ya know something practical.

haha i wonder wtf ever happened to those dudes selling clones via the web and mailing them via that website called "clonesdirect".. Last I heard they scammed a bunch of ppl and jumped the fence.

How can I package clones for shipping when customs will not be involved?

For those that are interested:
1 - 20 oz. plastic bottle cut in half (you will use the end w/ the cap).
2 - Cloning solution (I use Olivia's).
3 - Rubbing alcohol (like a surgical operation , everything must be sterile).
4 - Toilet paper.
5 - Newspaper.
6 - Masking tape.
7 - Razor blade.
8 - Thin piece of cardboard.
9 - Plastic baggie.
10 - Most important - Donor plant (mother).
Re-cut your cuttings under water using a 45 degree angle cut. Soak a piece of toilet paper in the cloning solution & ring out until it's wet, but not dripping. Remove the cuttings from the water and place the cut ends together. Wrap the toilet paper around the cut ends of the cuttings.
Place the cuttings in the open end of the plastic bottle and push through until the toilet paper comes out the cap end of the bottle. Wrap the toilet paper in newspaper.
Take & cut the corner off a plastic baggie and wrap it around the newspaper to avoid the newspaper drying out while the cuts are in transit. Secure the baggie with a rubber band.
Proceed to wrap the entire cap end in masking tape securing it to the neck of the bottle.
Take a piece of masking tape and place completely around the open end of the bottle. It helps to secure the top if you cut the masking tape in about 4 or 5 places.
Lightly mist the cuttings & put the thin piece of cardboard on the open end of the bottle. Secure with the masking tape that is already in place on the bottle. You now have a container that will protect your babies. Place the entire bottle in a Ziploc baggie.
Wrap the entire bottle in bubble wrap, place in your shipping box, close & tape, label the package (of course w/ a fictitious name ), and it's off to your local post office. When your package is received, re-cut the cuttings & clone as normal. It took me 5 days to receive my cuts that were sent to me in this method & yet they still arrived in perfect condition. Hope this makes it a little easier for each of us to share each other's goodies.

This is a very nice method for packaging clones and shipping them when the package will not be traveling across international borders. IE: Not past customs. For times when packages are traveling past customs more anti scent measures will need to be taken. Oven bags in multiple layers, are a good way to contain the scent, but they must be combined with other precautions like wearing (and changing) gloves, not touching anything mj with the gloves as you place bagged bags into additional layers of oven bags. Not changing gloves or touching cuttings with the same gloves worn to bag the items, will completely defeat the purpose of the oven bags.

Has anyone ever got unrooted Cuttings in the Mail? How long do Cuttings last without light a medium and Clone Gel? I was thinking about ordering some.

Yeah, many people have gotten unrooted cuttings in the mail, it's pretty common. light, medium, and cloning gel don't matter. What does matter is transit time and temperature. You want to avoid heat and below freezing temps. Who are you thinking of ordering from? There's a lot of places selling clones that you need to avoid, best to do some research on the person or company you're purchasing clones from.

I ordered a GMO Clone from Breeders Direct with No problems. But the 2nd time I didn't have the best luck but they are going to give Me another Clone when it's back in stock. But they have cuttings aswell but I was just wondering how if they're in the mail for 2 to 3 days and then I cut, put in gel and then put in rockwool would they root like My normal cuttings do. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.

I have heard that you can put a cutting in a refrigerator for a couple of weeks and it will still root if you don’t let it get too dry. I tried it a couple times and was not impressed with the results. Last time I tried I got no roots. Still, it seems like it ought to be possible if you want to give it a try.

When I'm growing out a larger number of plants to select keepers I often keep UNROOTED cuttings in the fridge until the end of harvest. It saves space and I can root the ones I want after the all important smoke test, discard the rest. Basically I fill a solo cup 1/4 the way up with tap water...
