    Bugs in soil?

My evidence comment was intended for Bryan as he was the one that made the claim about the perlite, thus the reason for his following response. If a grow tent would be the thing that is your tipping point at deciding to give it a try, I'd buy a tent myself. You can get a decent tent relatively...

    Bugs in soil?

I think the good bugs you are discussing that are found in organic soil, can ONLY survive in the soil itself, because without the nutrients within the soil they wouldn't have a food supply. Could always check out the organics section on RIU for more opinions as well.

    Dual spec benifit

I thought a lot of the stretch during the first couple weeks of flower was more so based on genetics of the plant? Obviously lighting plays some roll in this, but from my understanding indica dominant plants don't tend to have the stretch during flower that sativa dominant plants do...

    Bugs in soil?

By no means doubting your post or trying to be rude, but do you by chance have evidence to back this claim? Just wondering cause I have a 20-30% perlite mix, haven't had any issues with pests, but just wonder if it is this easy why doesn't every soil grower use this technique?

    Bugs in soil?

I think Chef makes some good points, I as well am in a rental as well, growing in soil and no issues. However, you have to be the one to make the final decision.

    Topping your buds

@andy s If the video was found online would you be willing to share the link? I have heard about this technique in discussions with people in my area, but no one that I know has every tried it. Will definitely be following this post and hope you continue to update. Will be interesting to see...

    Bugs in soil?

If you have seeds and have chosen against the idea of growing indoors, is there a possibility of growing outdoors in your area? Just a thought? Otherwise maybe you have a friend that would be interested in buying the seeds off of you, saving the hassle of ordering/shipping, just another...

10 week veg. What do you think I'll yield? POLL

Questions about yield predictions through out the forum are commonly answered by someone stating "about a pound" as predicting yield is usually avoiding. There are still a lot of contributing factors, even if the plant is vegged for a long period and remains healthy, doesn't guarantee there...

    Bugs in soil?

A lot seems to depend on the choice of soil, where its purchased and so on. There are usually ways to deal with bug issues, especially if caught right away. From my knowledge however, every grow, no matter the medium runs some risk of bug infestation. Just continue researching on this topic...

Many say new growers aren't patient enough, this has drawn me to the question of whether or not I'm a lazy grower? Just let them grow...

    Odd seedling situation

What are you using for grow medium? Could definitely be that the soil is too hot for such young plants, and maybe affecting plants based on strain and their tolerance to certain nutes. Second question, what type of light source are you using? If temps allow for it, I'd move your light closer...

    Testing PH runoff in soil

"What pH really measures is the concentration of hydrogen ions and hydroxyl ions in the soil. (Ions are formed when substances in the soil cause water molecules and certain other chemical compounds to break apart.) If the number of hydrogen and hydroxyl ions is the same, the soil is neutral...

    Testing PH runoff in soil

By no means am I a chemist, but then why in many collegiate level science labs do you spend time testing soil ph, and other nutrients within the soil? Not saying you are wrong by any means nor trying to come off as rude, however if you could provide a scholarly source on this information I...

    Testing PH runoff in soil

Seems like this would be i little more of a +/- differential then most would want. IMO if you truly want to test your soils ph, why not spend the few bucks need to buy a soil test kit? Seems to be rather inexpensive and usually more accurate then a +/- 0.5 as this leaves a full 1.0 threshold...

    Suggestions wanted

First off, WELCOME to RIU. You will find a lot of great information on here, but also some not so great information. The most important thing is to continue to learn and do individual research to find what works best for you in your garden. Make use of the forums search bar, as this is a great...

    Male?

Not exactly, more so the sac and pollen has to mature, doesn't just show up overnight. If you decide to let it go and find out it is male, put a garbage over it gently and tight or tape it tight to the pot prior to removing from the grow space. This will ensure that it doesn't drop pollen in...

    Male?

??? Personally, either way I would give it a couple days to ensure you don't chop prematurely myself. Hard to tell from the picture, but even if it is male it won't hurt any until the sacs grow and fill with pollen. Just my two cents.

help b4 i chop most beautiful male plant?

Definitely look as if you are doing well for your first grow as they appear nice and healthy. Just a tip for future photo posts, it's helpful to shut off HPS lights as you won't get the striping and discoloration of the photos. Looking good though, keep it up!
