Do you think the one foot on each side is sufficient?

Ya the cooling was one big concern of mine especially during the up coming summer months. Complete beginner question but could i have the 12 hour light period be say 8 pm to 8 am to avoid peak heat time? I'm going to have windows and everything covered so it could be pitch dark during day time.
