hi calicat. what is mildew. is it a sort of mold or coating of sum sort

can anybody tell me what is wrong with my plant as my leaves r terning white and it is not a powdery substance or a coating of any kind . the leaves r smooth as normal but it just seems that the leaves themself r turning white . just wondered if anybody could tell me what is wrong?.

i have now uploaded a pic for you to look at.It doesnt seem to be a mildew and its not a powdered covering. Its the actual leaf that is turning white itself

i think my 3-4 week old plant is dying. One of the top leaves at the base of the leave looks like it is dying as it is changing color and going yellow.It also looks like its spreading up the leaf.I was just wondering if anybody had any opinions on what might be wrong with it and what i could do...
