Yes, I'm chopping off the lower half of the foliage. I agree about the vegging too. Not sure why I let them run so long this time, I guess I wanted to maximize space, but a fat lot of good that does without supplemental lighting.

Best advice I can give is get a pH meter and an EC meter. Test your runoff when you feed. If you can get the runoff to be about the same as your feed, you're doing something right. That would definitely give me more wattage and be beneficial, but I'm looking for cheaper options. A good ballast and bulb plus the extra I'll have to pay for cooling, isn't an attractive option right now. I appreciate the input though!
