So I went to all this work to make a carbon filter for my grow tent, but now that I think about it, I have no way to control the smell during drying. How bad is it, and what do you guys do about this?

I prefer the 6500k CFL's over MH, they responded better so I'm going with them in the future. Simply put CFL's rule for vegging. these were vegged under 150w of 6500k for 30 days:

What do you mean what the reflector was designed for? It's for shining light downwards and that's what its doing. I have exhaust and it keeps the canopy below 75 right now. And why would I want it inches from the top? There is such a thing as "light burn". I'm looking for any negatives...

So I have a Sun Systems 2 and currently it has the glass insert installed. Any pros/cons besides protecting my plans if the bulb explodes? Should I take it off for any reason?

Hi this is my first grow and all I'm using is myco tabs + BMO Grow It Green so far. I will use flower power for flowering. Soil is a basic peat/verm/perlite mix of my own.

I like the Sun System 2 a lot, quality unit. This is how much space it takes up in a Homebox S just to give you an idea. But if I did it again, would go with remote ballast. I'm pretty strong and it's hard as hell for me to install/remove this thing off the chains, it's pretty heavy.

Use daylight (6500K) for vegging, cloning, etc. Use soft white for flowering. Plants love the 6500k.

Passive ventilation is all you need. I use a Homebox with a 90 CFM fan and the negative pressure is strong--I keep the flaps up to bring in the fresh air. If you wave a lighter a couple inches outside my tent, it will suck the flame in and blow it out. Yeah, passive for the win.

Yep thanks, I actually ended up going with a Sun Systems 2 enclosed ballast, 250w HPS and running constantly, this fan almost keeps it too cool. Canopy never gets above 74F. I could have gotten the 400w easily. ESPECIALLY a remote ballast. Hindsight, meh. Live and learn. I'll still get...

That sounds about right to me (althought someone more knowledgable should chime in w/ the correct formula you need). If it helps: I run a homebox small (6' x 2.5' x 2.5') with a 250w Sun Systems attached ballast (i.e. more heat from ballast being right there.) and a 90 CFM hydrofarms fan...

I dump coffee grounds right from my Krups basket into my pots and dig it into the soil a bit. Plants love it. Rumor has it coffee grounds add N.

So Im trying to plan my growspace here. Say a month in veg they have grown 10". Safe to say the stem could be 30" or more after 8-10 weeks of flowering if I start 12/12 now? Plants in question:

I'm not talking monetarily (for those of you that do it for money) but more so spiritually. The experience of nurturing these plants from seedling, to maturity, then experiencing the high is just...wow. Spiritual, amazing, healthy. Funny that something so frowned on from the general public...

Another nice benefit of these, I am watering from the top only, and nutes in the bottom. I just water enough so that water drops into the bottom reservoir, and then I know I'm done. They are awesome.
