i have my light about 3 feet from the plants right now my light is a 300w bub idk really want kinda of lights to get- chunkey21

i started my plants with just a 40w bub. today i put a 300w bub in their and i left for a few house and when i got home 3 of my 7 plants fell over and started to grow up sideways. i dont know what i am doing right now really with this but if anyone can give me some help plz tell me what i need...- chunkey21
