do both at once lol, nothing says you cant fim and lst. actually i would think you would get better yeilds by fimming and lst together. your creating more tops all the while bending to create an even canopy. just my .02 cents

If you just put it in 12/12 give it a couple weeks. If its female or male the pistils or balls will show on one of your nodes (branching sites) it differs from plant to plant how fast they will show. but two to three weeks and you should know something. if you cant tell at that time then...

Thanks for the info, ultimately i need more lights for a larger space so i can run multiple strains. i veg under cfls in a closet grow and flower in a growbox under hps but i dont have quite enough space for multiple res to veg the multiple strains in the closet.
