    Human ashes in soil

not only a week ago, my girlfriend and i spread our dogs ashes over one of my plants, which incidentally enough was a plant named 'the church'. the ashes were a sandy course type, so we spread them over the raised mound of topsoil the plant was in. i checked the plant yesterday, and it looked...

    how bad is frost

i havn't had the same luck. I'm using seed stock accimilated to MI climate, but 30 out of 40 of mine were wiped out by the three days of cold temps. And these plants had been under a mh bulb for a month. Even after three days of hardening off in full sun they still died, probably due to frost.

    Mixing soil

i worked on my soil today. i'm working with loam clay which i've read is super high in nutrients, but it doen'st drain well and doesn't allow for healthy root growth. I added aged horse manure which helped make it much 'looser'. Tomorrow I'm adding aged hay, saw dust, and builders sand. The...

    top or bend?

stonder408 i like what you did with your plants. i'm doing something similar, but i don't care if they stay short, i just want plant to be bushy to allow the growth shoots equal amounts of sun, and to make my plant look less conspicous from the sky. a lot of air traffic where i'm planting. do...

    top or bend?

I just finished pruning 30 or so of my plants, all above the 4th node. After topping 4 of them, I asked myself, why am i cutting bud sites off when i could just bend the stem to give the bud sites(not sure if bud sites is right terminology, hopefully you all know what i'm talking about) the...

    submerging taproot in water

comforting to hear. when i watched the videos of brwndirt and read articles of growers in humbolt county using fox farms, it got me thinking that better soil dramatically increases yields. this soil i'm dealling with is clay like, but just about anywhere i dig has a fuck ton of worms in it, so...

    submerging taproot in water

i've been searching the internet for the effects of completely submerging plant taproots but havn't found any info. Here's what I'm thinking. My family owns 400 acres with two private lakes. I was thinking I could buy heavy duty 5 gallon nursery pots, fill them with good quality soil then dig...
