CO2 is beneficial to soil and hydro. It might help hydro a little better because the growth rate is already faster than soil but by no means is soil a hindering factor when using CO2.
Post some pics of the worms or just treat your plants with Azamax. I've been using it for a few weeks and I'm satisfied with the results. I also used it on week old clones and none of them showed any problems from the Azamax.
A few drops of h2o2 (hydrogen peroxide) per gallon or try a product called no damp.
I use the h2o2 cause its cheap and goes a long way.
Just make sure you use only a few drops.
I have 3 400w and I wish I would of went with the 2 600w instead. If you're gonna go with the 1000 plus the 2 400s on the outskirts, I think that would the best setup....
