What is your grow size? I would say go for the extra 400. In general, the more lumens the better. I've also read you can add in a relay to your ballast to end up with two lights per ballast. Don't know if you could do that?

Err...I've been reading and it seems that L is the live wire and N the netral. So don't you need a ground wire anywhere?? Also can the socket for the lamp be wired in any order? It's a screw in socket for my bulb.
