i use molasses... have no problems of leaves turning yellow. maybe you need to supplement some Nitrogen into your feeding regimen. And the molasses is only $2 down here for a 12 oz jar. sounds cheap to me...

Not gonna happen. HID's require ballasts and ignitors. You could get away with no hood, and do a vertical bare bulb grow, but that's about it.

Top soil is garbage. Its got lots of crap and sand and shit. Get "Potting Soil". I tried putting some clones in a mix with some top soil, and they all died. Potting soil gives me like 85% clone success rate. Or just get some FFOF, or happy frog.

some bulb mfgs claim that hanging the bulb one way or the other is more efficient than the other, based on who makes the bulb. Some bulbs I believe can only be horiz, some vert, and the majority of hps bulbs can go either way. Is it an mh or hps bulb?

400 watt hps more than likely... Maybe a 600. Closet is 4.5 by 5.5, I figure the sweet spot to be roughly 3 by 3. Gives me room to grow, plus room for stuff like fans and ducting and what not.

I bought a one of those gang valves.. It was garbage. I was better off with the tubing going straight from pump to airstone. I use a 20-60 gallon aqua culture pump for each 5 gallon dwc bucket. My pumps each have 2 outlets..

Was thinking about running a duct into my closet to help keep temperatures under control in anticipation of my 400 hps light. Too much? or great idea? How should I setup my ventilation if I go this route? Air Cooled hood or cool tube is an option, as I have not ordered the light yet. Still...
