I think both are very valid options for seedlings. I have used both and they have both done the job well. The biggest thing in my opinion when deciding is how many seedlings you have.. A tube light can cover more seedling more efficiently in my opinion but a cfl can do a bit better job and also...

i am wanting to do a all cfl grow in my closet (indoor). but i only have a 4' tube fluorescent which works great for seedlings but don't know about flowering haven't tried it..

How big our your plants and how many? I found my tube lamp worked really well when they are still under 6". especially if you have a few plants because you can put them all in a line at first and get the tube within 2 inches of the tallest plant... I did this for getting a head start on an...
