High power COB -vs- hps vertical shoot out

Nice setup. One thing to consider with going with a flip box on LEDs is that they run on much lower voltage than HIDs. I don't know how you wired your LED chips and what kind of drivers you are using. I'd recommend going for higher voltage and wiring them in series in case you aren't doing so...

    Cold water or warm water?

Cold slows down growth in general. And its a bit of a shock too, so room temperature is about as good as it gets i'd say :)

    Texas heat

Transplant if you can water them regularly, at least in the beginning. Also, put some hay, leaves or anything like that over the soil, it helps prevent direct sun to the soil, thus it dryes up slower. Im from Europe, and i use a thing called agrogel, its a superabsorbant polimer, that binds...

Dots (rust?) on some leaves, need a solution [pics]

Hm, by giving them more nutes i will just tip the pH off balance more and make it worse, if the pH is the problem (which im about 80% sure it is.)

Dots (rust?) on some leaves, need a solution [pics]

Here are the pics of my himalaya gold, its growing outside and has just started to flower. Some lower leafs have these brown dots on them, some have just a few of them, others are completely burned, as you see on one picutre. After looking around i found out that this is probably from pottasium...

1000 watt hps on two week old seedlings>?

Well if you have any other choice, i'd use it, because this is a serious overkill (i suppose you arent doing 100 seedlings at a time)... if you don't mind the electricity bill then you got nothing to loose, but like i said, its like picking up groceries at your local store with an 18 wheeler :P
