How far away should I keep my cfl from my plant?

And how far away should I keep the light if I'm using a standard house hold cfl?

I added a pic, and yes I am using a household cfl but I burn It while I was growing at my friends house and idk what type of light he uses.

And I think the plant is dying because I accidentally burnt it cause the light was too close to the plant.

Umm I've been watering it every other day.. If you know how to send pics on this that would be helpful.

My baby plant is on the verge of dying because I kept it under the lamp too long and now it's kind of brown. Any suggestions.
