Longtime toker, First time grower. Been mureking around the forums for month's now (Was on Overgrow as a different name) and decided it was time when a friend offered me this 1k watter for 250$. Decided to use a closet. I have 18 seeds from various bags I have bought throughout 2008.

I hope these are good seeds as they were from 1/8ths and 1/4'ers and maybe 1 or 2 seeds out of all of those buds. Have them in a wet papertowel in a ziploc bag tosse into a drawer.

I plan to hit the garden store tomorrow to pick up some soil, buckets and that 3 pack of fox farm they have.

Any suggestions on soil? Home depot is kind of close, anything good their??

Ill post some more pictures tomorrow after I clean up and get the setup going. :bigjoint:

for soil i would say anything but miracle grow lol
may want to buy some perlite to add to the mixture if
you weren't thinking about it already it will help the roots and
and if anything goes wrong such as nute burn it will be easier
to flush because of the perlite
cant wait to see pics of the growbongsmilie:bigjoint::weed:

Hey thanks, I wrote it down and if the budget permits Im gonna grab some perlite, I have vermiculite laying around.. I was thinking of just grabbing some basic top soil 40lb bag for like 2.39$(?). Couldnt get around to it today. :-?

Area I'm working with is attched.

Notes.
No germination as of this post.

The closet I am growing in is next to a area that slopes with the roof that is used for storage. Their is no insulation and it is always drafty. I know I wont be able to use a 1k w HPS during the summer (gets way too hot), But for the winter\spring\fall I wonder how much smell would travel and if I should shutout half of the closet. It is 4 feet deep 7 feet high and 3 feet wide.

I let it (the light) rip today for a good hour to see how hot it could get knowing that alot of error could be played.

Light leak problems when I close the closet door, Can see light on bottom of door and where whole opening on the handle side.

Determined my bill @ .14 an hour. Might have to downgrade to a 600! :joint:

if you have no ventalation the smell may
travel up to 20 feet, once a friend was
drying bud in a trailer in his yard
and i could smell it from the street

how many plants do you plan on
growing?

nice setup by the way:bigjoint:

What did he do about the smell? Did he use a activated filter or a simple ionic breeze type contraption?

The room is very drafty. Their is a closet that slants with the roofline in this closet, This room is not insulated. (used as storage see fotos) Currently it is cold out and I am keepijng this door open to cool the ballast thus neutralizing the temperature of the closet. This is only temporary as I noticed even with the door closed and the light off it will get cold quickly (drop 15-20F) (compare my temperature to Bostons for example) I was maybe thinking of building a dummy wall and hooking the exhasut straight to my attic above and have a intake from the closet with the draft??

9 seeds total planted, Ill be happy to get 3 females. :)

No Germination yet....Took them out of the bag, Tossed them in soil mixed with vermiculite. Had the light on yesterday from 9:30-1:30 at night. Turned on this morning @ 10:00 Shutoff when I get home from school.

No signs of life yet.... :joint:

Thats what Im curious about myself.. One thing I need to pick up is a therometer\hygrometer. Right now it is comfortable. I would say 70-75. But this morning when I opened the closet to turn on the lights it was damn cold. I'd say mid 50's..
