1 Plant Grow - New grower - help needed.

Hello,

I have one seed and only plan on trying to grow one plant this year outdoors. I am new to growing marijuana but I have been around it for a while now.
I live in Kansas so when would be the right time to start the germination process? I plan on starting it soon indoors and then moving my baby outdoors when it gets nicer. -Thats my first question. Is it okay to transplant indoors to outdoors? or should I wait and start the sprouting outdoors?

Also, I dont plan on buying nutrients for this other than the soil and stuff my friend gets me from the greenhouse. Im not looking for top-line bud but I want pretty decent green for personal consumption. I have everything ready but its 45 degrees out but is slowly warming up next week. How long can I grow indoors if I want to transplant them outdoors?

Thanks for answering these two questions and probably many more to come :)

Thanks guys!

Choke on!

Germ first then veg indoors really good for a couple months.....transplant outdoors in a good 20gallons or more of good soil (more soil/larger hole is better than less of course).....not 100% on your area but pretty sure you would be fine doing this and starting your veg now....30days will still be ok as its a long season still ahead so I would veg for a couple months indoor first then put it out for april/may sometime where they will continue to veg even more for a bit and should be a monster by the sept or oct harvest time....IF...all goes good and weather or critters dont get to it first........chicken wire around the plant and buried a good 6-8inches will assist there though.......a makeshift weather barrier of some sort might come in handy as well should nasty weather hit and easy if only one plant.....Iif I was only going with 1 I think I would try and take any and all precautions I could to ensure she was going to put out for me eventually, lol

Deer, rabbits, cows all would eat it if given the opportunity and make sure to protect it from slugs and the like with pellets.
As maplebacon said get her nice and healthy indoors first, that way you control the growing environment and you have a more robust plant going outside then.
All the best with it

I dont know man. Starting with one is like putting all your eggs in one basket. Maybe two or three?

^^yes exactly that as well........be pretty gutted veggin/planting just one plant only to see nutz on it, having it end up being a crap/bad pheno, poor growth, etc, etc.....sure wouldn't be worth my time and effort for just one plant chancing all that......but thats just me.

Alright. Thanks for all your guys's advice. I was planning on planting them in a indoor stealth box for the first of their 30 days until they started to veg. I mean if this seed were to come out with balls couldn't I use it to produce seeds?

You would still need a female to produce seeds.

And my thought process was that If I could learn and manage off one seed I could use everything that one little girl taught me to possibly try 4/5/6 next year, since after all I really am just trying to learn the ropes with this first run.

It would make more sense to start your first grow with more than one seed cos there's so many things that can go wrong even for the experienced grower.
If the plant turns out to be male you have a lot of time, effort and money wasted and it's just as easy grow 5 as it is to grow 1.

Ahhh I see. Alright, well tonight I will be transforming a computer tower into a small starter stealth box that will allow the plants to grow up to about a foot and a half if I was just planting two, but I am just going to use it to start them and get a 6inch plant out of it and then transplant into pots and move them into the woods.
