1 week from seed - look ok? Pics

So being my first grow I wanna make sure I'm not doing anything too stupid.

11-05-2010 - First put in paper towel to germ
11-07-2010 - Put into soil
11-10-2010 - Pushed through soil

Right now I think they're doing good, but I'm the kind of person who always needs a second (or more) opinion.

Right now I'm on an 18/6 light schedule with 2 26w 6500k CFL's (one on each plant, should I go more?). Temps go from 71 at night (dark) and 82 during the day (with the lights on). Got a pretty cool thermometer that tells you high and low.

So are these looking ok? The second one has kind of a droopy leaf but it came up looking like that.

Extreme Indica (feminized) btw. They came free with my purchased seeds, figured I'd do my first real grow with the free ones to work out all the bugs before moving to the ones I actually paid for.

Yeah, its only a few inches. Pretty much where I cant feel the warmth from the bulb. Just using CFL's for veg, then moving to 200w HPS for flower, probably should have mentioned that. Originally was gonna go all CFL but a 200w system isn't much $$ and well worth it.

Im using Fox Farms Ocean Forrest... goin to give Big Bloom from week 3-6 of veg then flip to 12/12 and add in tiger bloom... keep your grow up to date DWRECK!!!!

Also the "DROOPY LEAF", the first 2 leafs that split open like a coin purse to form the oddly shaped leafs are called "Cotyledons" and usually will turn brownish and fall off after a little whil... so dont worry about that... but it looks like you have a little light burn as well on the smaller girl.... happy growing!

I was thinking 4 weeks or so. Kinda just depends on what they're doing at the time. No longer than 5 weeks though.

For soil, I'm using Miracle gro moisture control. Now, I know this may not be a good choice but I figured I'd give it a shot. There seem to be people that it works great for and some people it really sucks for. Think it all depends on the watering schedule since it releases nutes when you water. More than likely going to stick with it til the end unless theres a problem. Then I'll switch to something else.

Yes! Thats what I thought too...it happened the day it came out of the soil and the first day of having light. I went to work and it was just popping out of the soil. When I came home from work (12 hours later) it had grown almost all the way up touching the light. I've pulled it back since, so hopefully she'll be ok. :)

sounds good, I have 2 seedlings in ocean forest and as soon as i get my new seeds to germ, im putting one in the MG potting soil as well, i started with that originally, but read a bunch of bad testimonials, so i switched to ocean forrest since the seedlings are in peat pellets... but i still want to try MG on at least one of my little girls... do a side by side grow and see how they do, i know im gonna have to make a feed and water calender or ill get it confused and screw my first grow up... lol anyways bro, happy growing!

Yeah dude...I look at this all as an experiment. If it works, cool...if not, lesson learned, I'm not out much if it ends up crappy. I planned on stepping EVERYTHING up for my second grow. Going to take a clone from each of my plants and try out some ocean forrest and different nutes. Just to see what the results are. There are so many people out there that have grown in so many different ways that I don't think theres one real definitive answer for anything. But yeah, good luck with your grow too!! :)

Here is my little girl, I started new seeds and gave that runt to a buddy...

3 of my master kush seeds have tails already

And only about 16 hours after germinating them, I put them into a paper towel, then I wrapped the towel in washcloth that is soaked in HOT tap water, then I put them into a ziploc bag and breath out into the bag before closing...

I'll throw up some pics of the seeds in a bit, I'm really impressed with how fast the popped tails....
But here is my strong little girl, the only one i have right now..

Only question I have is with the green algae? growing on the soil. Bad thing?
