Hey guys. 2nd grow & total novice here utilizing bare minimum setup. My last grow was exactly a year ago. I realize it's a mess & plan on investing more time & money on my next grow (3rd).
There are 2 plants in back (cheese & gorilla glue - each about 36" tall) & one in front (kush xl - about 18" tall) all autos are at exactly 10wks from first sprout. They are in 3 gallon fabric pots with Pro-mix potting soil, that I guess doesn't have any nutes in it. I couldn't see any listed on the package anyway. Using a cheap purple 1000w maxisun that I think pulls around 200w from the outlet...but not sure. This is a free standing closet that's roughly 2' deep x 3' wide x 6' height. Ventilation is a 4" inline exhaust fan with a 4" carbon filter at the top sucking air out & a 4" fan at the bottom pushing air in. The area has stayed roughly 78° & 50% humidity during day (16hrs light) & 68° at night (8hrs dark). Im just realizing now that I never increased the light hours to 18 as I had planned. Completely forgot about nutes until about a week or so into flowering & found some organic tomato & vegetable food (1-3-1) in my garage. A week or 2 later I used flower stacker (0-7-5) & then out of panic I used some rose & bloom that's 10-10-9 but had calcium (4%) & magnesium (2%) which I had convinced myself these plants needed or all would be lost. I then went on a cutting spree, removing all shade leaves to get more light. I have anxiety issues which has made this grow a real trip...lol
So it's 70ish days now and I've got milky trichs but no amber. Pistils are probably around 75% brown. I've sort of flushed a couple times and these gals are still damp (soil moisture is 50%) after 3 days. I've got a cheap analog meter that measured the soil pH at 6.5 & moisture at 50%.
Tested a small bud that I dried quickly and other than feeling like I was swallowing knives, it was a potent buzz.
None of these gals are showing any amber trichs though. I'm concerned that maybe waiting isn't a good idea? I'm also concerned with the soil not drying out much since 3 days ago. Also, when the trichs mature, do they like pop..that is, do the milky bulbs on top disappear or become deformed?
Also, since I really only smoke in the evening, and have issues with anxiety, I figured waiting for amber trichs would be beneficial?
My first grow of 2 plants ended up at around 160 grams if I remember correctly. It lasted me about 11 months. I used to be a heavy toker back in the block/brick weed times, but now I simply enjoy an evening smoke to relax and end the day. I'm hoping this grows yield is better...it does seem to look so.
So I guess my main question is if I should continue to wait for amber trichs...I did see a couple a few moments ago, or should I chop em down?
The pic with the 12oz can is today, while the similar pic w/out the can is a week ago. Close-ups are today.
I think the only real upgrade I have to have would be the lighting. I don't see a need for more growing space, so a good light for my 2' x 3' area is all I need. I'd like to keep it under a few hundred if possible though.
