10 x 10 Grow Room

are you going to use the 10x10 room for flowering only? or do you need to have both veg and flower in that space? if so; will you need to keep a mom in your veg room?

the electrical isn't that confusing if you know what you are doing. all you will need is a subpanel coming off the breaker panel to your house. it's a job most electricians can handle in a few hours. 50 amp subpanel with a 240v breaker for your lights and one for the a/c and dehumidifier. then you just run the fans and stuff on the outlets that are already there. probably all on a 15 amp 120v circuit.

Don't get mad but I plan on building this after I move.( I say this cause you have been very helpful and now your probably thinking oh, this guy isn't even gonna build it, hes bullshitting, which im not) Right now I cannot grow where Im at because dad thinks its too risky. which I agree. I would feel much more comfortable growing in a basement. Which I dont have here. So after he gets his credit card down and I save up a good amount of $ we can search for a new home, in a less urban part of the state and the home will have a basement. I'm looking to spend as little as possible, then again who isn't. A minimum wage job wont make me that much, plus I dont have a college degree. This is partly why I plan on doing this. I did the math and at $5,000/ lb(realisticly 4,000lb) and 2oz's per plant at 25 plants I would have $16,500 worth of product every 4 months. which is $45-$50k a year. So by doing a 10x10 I can make more than what my dad makes working 6 days a week. And like I said he's getting old and I will need to be able to take care of him within the next 5-8 years. I came up with this idea through nessecity. I have no other way to really support myself and my dad by any other means.

now running 2400 watts of lighting will cost me by my electric rate $204/month for 18 hours per day. and $136 for 12 hours a day/ month. now I take my regular bill which is anywhere between 80-100 bucks per month. thats $300 a month for electric at 18 nhours a day. and $236 a month at 12 hours a day. this isnt counting the ac unit, dehumidifier and fans. Is this going to be noticeable and cause for suspicion??

Oh and as far as ventilation, I want to build the 10x10 inside the basement exhaust and ac exhaust into rest of basement. because I do not want to vent hot air directly outside.i would be worried about flir spotting heat escaping outside my house. I imagine I could do this and air out the basement once a day to allow fresh air in. this sound good?

Well planing ahead isn't a bad thing. What is your kwh rate? I think you missed something. And if you haven't grown befor so a small 1 plant closet grow now so you learn how to read the plants.

yes i have grown before. 4 beautiful plants, huge main cola's. It was red dragon(most potent), blueberry gum, veneno, and fruity chronic juice. fuckers sitting in the pots were as tall as me. um i would have to look up the kwh rate.

Well when you do I have a chart telling how much each light will cost to run. It's within a few bucks

hey bro, sounds like you've got a good plan. i'm game to help in anyway i can so when you are ready just let me know. couple things i spotted and wanted to mention.

first and foremost...make sure you can get rid of that amount before you just start growing it. you said you were gonna move to a new area; usually that means you don't know too many people. just something i noticed...you may have that figured out already.

i wouldn't worry about that type of electrical draw alerting anyone. especially if you are in a med state. it's really a myth that power companies report you. even if you are in an illegal state i don't think that kind of usage will sound any alarms on a large property like that.

don't be dead set on 25 plants. figure out how many lights you want to run, then figure out what style of growing you will do (i.e. hydro, soil, SOG, SCROG, trees, etc...); this will determine how many plants you can fit under each light.

if you are doing this for profit then look into a perpetual harvest. will run a lot smoother in your scenario. use half the room for 1 cycle and the other half for another cycle. that way you offset the plants by 4-6 weeks and get a harvest every 30-45 days depending on the strain you are growing. always helps to grow the same strain or ones with similar flower periods when doing a perpetual. if you do decide to do a perpetual then you should have a veg room. even if you don't you should still have a veg room. that way you aren't vegging plants in your flower room which reduces the amount of harvest you get in 1 year. you could even use a tent or build a smaller room and just use some 4' T5's and keep 2 moms in there and some vegging plants. much more efficient than how you are thinking of doing it.

If I offer them great shit for good prices I'm sure I can get rid of quite a bit. worst case scenerio I can package it and save it, possibly in a locked strong box hidden out back(I remeber seeing tony soprano do that with his cash from the show the sopranos). thanks for the idea of the perpetual harvest. Im thinking I can use cfl's for vegging or t-5's like u said, that would save me quite a bit of money instead of using mh/hps lights to veg for 18 hrs a day, right? btw do you know if regular winter squash plants will stay green to disguise my pot plants i have in the garden? I have 3 out there. but I took like 8 good clones from them and I can't keep them in the house. they are very small but are flowering. 1st week of flower and 4-5 inches tall. I said to myself I wont plant anymore than those 3 I have out there but now I have these 8 clones that are female and smalllll . should I plant them outside with the winter squash? this is just for me . figure they will grow 12-14 more inches when they are ready to be cut. ill lst them too. just wondering ur opinion on that. thanksss

I am about to increase my room to 10x10 for flower. I will be using 4 600w. Each one over a 4x3 flood table. plenty of room to work. Trying to set it up like Al B Fuct

don't store bud outside. you want to store it in glass jars in a dark place that is 70-75 degrees and 50-60% humidity. gotta remember that a 8 lamp 4' T5 fixture uses as much electricity as a 400w ballast. they also produce heat that has to be cooled by ac units. just something to think about.

i don't know anything about squash. sorry bud. if you feel safe about where they will be planted then go for it.

Hey Phil, in the seventh picture are the plants in the orange pots and the plants in the black pots the same age as eachother? The ones in the black pots seem to be yeilding more. Or does it look that way cuz the ones on the left are sativa dom. and the ones on the right are indica dom.?

any dehumidifier you buy should have a digital control setting that allows you to adjust the humidity levels in the room. also get yourself a thermometer/hygrometer and place the probe under the lights on the plant canopy. this is where you want to measure the temps and humidity in your room. you may need to adjust the thermostat or humidistat on your units to compensate for differences in the actual plant areas.

2 1000w lights will not cover a lot of space. basically a 10x5 area which is cool but less than 6 400's and 4 600's. that leaves you plenty of room for other equipment and to work and move plants around. you aren't going to get 25 plants under them unless you are growing really small plants and in that case 1000w lights would be a waste because you don't need the intensity of tose bulbs to penetrate the canopy.

there is a lot of great info and people on this forum. just gotta learn how to access it. the whole setup phase is sometimes overwhelming but you have a few guys here who've got a lot of experience in it. feel free to ask whatever questions. if you give me an idea of the room layout i'll mock up a floorplan for you and give you a list of items to think about purchasing. i'll even help you get the electrical laid out as well as try and help you with grow style and nutrients.

we'll get you growing some monsters soon enough...

no, they were bout 4-5 weeks apart. the orange pots are 7 gallon and the black ones 5 gallon. i was just testing out the orange pots to see if it increased the yield at all by having a bigger pot. i don't remember the exact timing of that picture but i think the black pots were about 50 days into flower and the orange pots were about 20 days in.

these are some pics of the girls in the orange pots around day 45 or so. i actually just harvested them. they are drying right now.
