Hey everyone Im new to this site but not too new to indoor growing, I used to have a pretty upscale system goin on but I had to stop due to my living situations (aka I moved) but Im planning on picking it back up just without intent on selling any just personal use ya know. I was just wondering if 1-100 watt cfl would be sufficiant enough for a rubbermaid tub with two plants in it. I intend on training the plants so its like sea of green, sorta. But my main concern is lighting. Do you think that the 100 watter will put out enough lumens?
Thank You!

I've used 100 watt cfl's for some time. They work well, but I use one per plant. I have seen 200 watt cfl's (u-shaped tubes instead of spiral) but have yet to purchase any. They're about $15, but could be well worth the price. Anybody had experience with these?

So you guys are saying I should use two 100 watt cfls for the rubbermaid tub/tote whatever? And I also have a couple little (I think) 24 or 26 watt tube flouros. They're like 20 inches long and I was thinking about putting them on the side of the tub when the plants get older, sound like a good idea??

Yes plz tell i wanna know to ....if u can get 200w cfl for 15$ (wich i seriously doubt it) get about 75$ of them (1kw of fluoros will put out some brightness into ur plants )...now seriously as long as u can keep the temps in the right values u can add as much light as u can afford, i´ve seen dudes garden´s where plants need to wear shades  :joint::joint::peace:

i think maybe people are talking about the wattage equivalent, not the actual wattage. like 26w looks equivalent to 100 watt incandescents.

You can get em up to 250watts these days. Huge ass lights thou. I'd prefer to scatter a few 45s, 65s and 105watters to get a nice even spread of light - MJ likes it that way. Cheaper too.

are you talking about a true 100 watt OR a 100 watt "equivalent" ? There is a huge difference. i just went and got a 100 watt CFL security light at home depot to try and so far it looks like this could work. Comes with a reflector as well.

hey man,

If its just a couple little plants, you might be ok, but youre gonna have scrawny little nugs if you dont use a HPS to flower. If you are stuck with only cfls for power concerns or whatever reason, get those shop lights at Lowes with the clamps. Get as many as you can. They're 12 bucks on the website. They will move with the plant if you got somewhere to clip them, and they hold a big CFL nicely, plus they have slick built in reflectors.
