I think the clue is in the title. 1000W that is 18 kilowatt hours a day. I pay 9.17p per kilowatt hour here in the uk which translates to
18 * 0.0917 = £1.65 ($2.48 ) / day
during an 18 hour vegetative cycle. This is using the nominal rating for the bulb, it'll actually use more, but how much more depends on what temperature you keep the ballast. A cool ballast is a happy ballast. Note this figure also doesn't include the fans. Running a 1000W bulb is a serious investment.

I was referring to the electricity bill as being the investment but you'll also need fans (intake and exhaust), pH metre, pH up and down, nutrients, odor control etc.

Your first step is to click on the GROWFAQ at the top of the page. This will teach you the basics. If you dont know the basics then asking questions will really do you know good. I would also recommend a smaller light for somebody that hasnt grown before. Try a 400 or 600w. Theres lots of good info in these forums, just do some research and you will be on your way
You should also search growing marijuana on youtube, lots of videos there
