Don't waste your time on unnecessary energy 1000w is too intense for any plant and is rarely used in hydroponics by people who know what they are doing, chuck it out put in a 600w save your power bill and get a greater yield :)

5500 footcandles outdoors. can be pushed to 7000 footcandles indoors. 1kw lamps are really too much for plants. The idea being that you have to back the light up 2 feet and then you're left with the useable output of a 250 watt lamp.

1000 watts is to much
u guys are all pussies

As far as distance .... use the back of your hand.... if its hot to your hand.... its hot to the plant.

I go as close as 12 inches away in flower

.................................................. .................................................. ......................................

6 - 1000s cover my 12 x 18 GR.... 1 every 6x6.... 6000 watts

to cover the same area with 600s..... I would need 12... for a 12 x 16... 1 every 4 x 4....that's 7200 watts isn't it

hmm for 6kw

10 x 600 w is rated at 920,000 lumen

6 x 1000w is rated at 870,000 lumen

power wise there is not much in it, but 600 will be more efficient
however the 10 x 600 would give a much better spread than 6 x 1000

how you were unable to do this and require an extra 1200 watts is rather strange
poor technique lol ?

My 12 x18 room can pop out 70 plants @ 4 oz per ...non hydro grow

10 - 600 will cover a 8 x 20 area (1 every 4x4 for best results) = 160 sq ft

6- 1000 will cover a 12 x 18 area (1 every 6x6 for best results) = 216 sq ft.... who has more sq ft and a better spread??

Just as long as your in the 2500 or more lumens per sq ft zone.... your garden will turn out fine from my experiences mine runs at 3000

yes I have a light meter.... 5500-5800 FC @12 inches

Why is everyone argueing over 600-1000s he asked how high he should keep his light above his plants. Simple as start at about 18 inches if your cannopy gets too hot raise it up a bit. Ive never bleached a leaf from too much light just heat. Btw i run a 1k and a 400 my local shop 1k stuff is always cheaper and available. My electricity is cheap and the extra 60 it costs to buy a 600 over a 1k takes along time to recoup when also taking into acount lost production.

And yes i know a good 600 bulb will perform like a shitty 1k but a good 1k also does the job of two shitty 600s. Its all relative
