ok im new in this, so i bought a 1000 watts air cooled hood from ebay! the problem is the heat they produce and i don't know exactly how i need to cool my room and i don't want to over spend on my first grow! i am growing inside my closet in a relatively small space so i want to know how i should connect the ventilation inside my room and what kind of ventilation i should get to get the job done! i was doing some research and i think that the set up should go something like this:

Carbon filter-duct-air cooled hood-duct-fan and the fan should be sucking the air.

Please let me know if this is right!!!! and what kind of ventilation should i get!

if you are talking about an in-line carbon filter, you will need enough cfm's to push air through it. Also, with a 1000w lamp, you will need a fairly good size fan. I have a 600w metal halide lamp with 240 CFM in line fan 6" ducting and my small room temperature stays at 79F with the lamp on.

You need to have one fan on the light sucking the hot air out exhausting the heat and then you can do what you want with the carbon filter, cant say much bout it I dont use one but I know you need to exhaust the air from the light. Valuline is a good inline fan you can get and its cheap to compared to others... Hope I helped

u need to vent the air away from the grow. Outside? into a differnt room?
A 6 inline fan should work well. but the hot air has to go somewhere else..

The carbon Filter is designed to have a fan (vortex) sit right on top of it, no ducting. It will wash the air in the room. Hook ducting>fan>ducting out for the light hood. Leave one end of hood open, the other with the ducting and fan, suck the air from the hood, dont push!

I just upgraded to a 1000w from a 600w hoping to improve yields and am finding out just how much more difficult they are to cool. My thread is on this page a few posts down now.
