1000w hps HELP!!

Week 2 of my grow my light went out....convinced it was the bulb i just replaced it. the new bulb will glow but not fully come on. the ballast is getting juice and buzzing but still not on 100%
HELP??? Save my grow!

one question, your not like quickly plug'n/unplug'n the ballast are you?...if you have a magnetic ballast, be sure to wait around 10 minutes before giving power if just powering off....

...if it's a brand new light, wait about 1/2 hour for it to build the gases up to warm up for its very first time only...other then that, it's the bulb I'd say...Good luck.

try:
1. unplug everything for 10 - 15 minutes.
2. plug in and leave on for 1/2 hour for the first time for the brand new bulb.
...let me know if this works.

Im not sure how old it is? bought it from a guy that moved away. i thought it might just need time to warm up so i left it on for about an hour. still glowing but not on. wired for 110. lost here.

you must of got jacked foo my new one might do that when i first turn it on for a few seconds or a minute sometimes than flick on all bright and shit

Sounds like ya bought a bad ballast dude. Know any electricians? Not to be a dick but this is why you buy shit new, never know what the fucker before you did with it. The guy moved away and the ballast you bought from him took a shit... I think the guy knew the ballast was shit. At least it sounds like the ballast is bad.

To be on the safe side (dont want to burn you place down) I would try to swing a new ballast or if you know an electrician they can re-build it for ya. I have an friend thats an electrician so if I ever need a re-build I'll have him do it since I dont know what Im doing with elec.

Dont take a chance on a fire dude.

That's what I thought. Wait, he did cause he said he got one after the bulb he had wasnt running full out.

I agree man, bad something on the inside and thats a bit too dangerous for me to fuck with. I wouldnt run the damn thing til it was re-built.

Liquid, if you want to use this ballast then be safe and get a re-build kit. I think they are about 150 USD. For a bit more you can get a quality new ballast and not have to fuck with wiring the damn thing like you would with a re-build.

You keep using that ballast and you're asking for trouble. Think about it, if it was still good then why would that guy have givin it up? Not much to upgrade to when you have the biggest light already. The dude new it was toast.

damn i don't wanna drop 150 for a rebuild kit. fuck.
the whole setup worked fine for about 2 weeks then it went out. figured the bulb just burn't out. put in a nnew bulb and it just glowed. (not fully illuminated) so first thought was i had a bad bulb.

well sometimes you just gotta suck it up. suggestions on where to buy a new ballast...whats with the digital ones??

Im wondering that my self. I have a Sun Light Supply galaxy 600w that's 5 months old and wont fire the hps. The ballast is'nt delivering enuff juice to start the bulb but runs the halide conversion bulb just fine so now I need another too.

I've read good things on the Lumatek's and there are people here that use em. Anyone got any thing to say about Lumatek? I need to replace my 600w.

talked to the tech at hydrofarm today. awesome guy. shipping it out and getting it back within a week. I'm only buying hydrofarm from now on. best customer service i've got from any company. period. things are looking up! hydrofarm saved christmas!!:blsmoke:

be careful, i have a hydrofarmand i think its a peace of shit. very loud buzing box plus the thing craped out on me...
