1000W HPS/MH Closet Grow!! Check it out

Hey whats up RIU. This is my 5 or 6th grow, my 3rd indoor grow. First time using HPS and MH. I got the light system, advanced nutes, mylar, and the inline fan from htgsupply.com all for around 550 bucks with shipping. I knew a 400w would do for my closet but cmon it was like 50 bucks differnce, so now I could always go with a bigger grow area.

As you can see, I started out with three plants, 2 of wich came from some good dank bud I got. They called it "Green Goblin." I dont know if that is a true strain or something some dealer just made up. The third also came from some dank bud i got. It had no name.

Unfortunantly, my german shepard fucking ate one of the Green goblin seedlings.. Man was i pissed.. He got his but spanked and doesnt go close to it anymore lol. Ive been keepin the door open on it for now, because i havnt put a whole in the wall for the fan..

The first 3 pictures are from 9/3 at about 6 days old. The next 3 are from today 9/18 around 21 days.

What do yall think, the growth looking good for 3 weeks old?

The last picture is the nutrients ive been using. My tempertures have been constant around 89 during lights on at its peak ( its usually around 87 unless its high noon). humidity stays around 30%.

I plan to switch to flowering in about 2 more weeks, just to find out which is female and which is male.. After which, Im going to take at least one clone off it, and hopefully turn it into a mother.

89 is to hot. you need to get some fans in there, and try running at night. Why does the light look green?

Where is the hot old air from the cooltube and room exhaust going? Make sure its going outside the room surrounding the closet or your just moving the same air around. Get temps under 80 or your harvest will be ordinary, even at high noon.

Ya, thx for the advice on the temps, I know they're a little high, but 85 is the top for ideal temps, 2 degrees won't effect it much for a few weeks. Plus it's just been hot this summer.. By the time I start flowering my temps will be way lower, I'll probably have to put a heater in there after 1 month cuz it's getting cooler by the day.. As for the ventilation, it's vented into a bedroom that is constantly being circulated with the rest of the house, no problems there.. The green light is just a illusion I think from the walls which sent green but a tinted white or creme whatever. I put up half the Mylar today, I'm not in a rush since I'm flooding it with light anyways

I'll get some more pictures up after a few days or so.. after a little more growth cuz there isn't much to show on the room. Just the light and inline fan. O I do have a oscillating fan in there too that wasnt in the pics.. Thx for the replies I'll keep it updated. Later

Hey everyone here is a new update at 24 days into veg. I finished putting in the exhaust fan, i cut a whole in the closet going into one of the bedrooms. The intake is coming from another bedroom. Im only using a computer fan for the intake but its rated at 96 cfm. The temps are good now with a high of 84 staying around 82-83 most of the time though. ( I have seen it at 85 though). Like i said before, we should see a drop in the temps as it gets closer to winter. How long do yall think i should wait before switching it over to flowering. I still want to top em so i can get more colas, and hopefully clone the tops. How long should i wait before topping them, and then how long should i wait to switch to flowering? any suggestions appreciated! thanks yall for following. Later

Hey everyone. I've got a new update for ya'll. Here we are one week later. I have a new seedling sprouted, the seed is a green crack strain. I also topped both of the older ones. I took one of the toppings and cloned it. I didn't use any rooting hormone; I just cut it at a 45 and soaked it in a little water, then straight into the ground. It looks like its starting to make roots and take hold, but its still too early to tell. As for the topped plant it's looking good, I already have a two more shoots coming up. I tried showing this in the last picture. Well, wish me luck on the clone, because I didn't want to mess up the topping for the sake of a good clone. Hope yall are enjoying this as much as me. Hey everyone. Heres an update on my grow journal. Everythings been good: humidity has stayed good at 36%, BUT my temps have been still sittting around 86 degrees most the time. Im kinda worried now, because it is getting pretty cold in my apartment, but it isn't cooling the grow room like I thought it woud. Idk what to do about it, because I cant really put an air conditioner in there. I guess ill just hope that it gets cooler.. I really want the temps in the high 70's before I flower. Well either way, I think it'll be ok. Heres some pictures as of 40 days into veg(for the bigger ones, the younger ones are around 18 days veg). In the last picture, you can see where I topped the biggest one, and now there are three solid tops, and one little deformed top too. Ya'll should subscribe and give me +rep. Im going to give the most recent update with todays pictures on the next post.

Hey again. So here is part two of the update. Here we are at 48 days into veg. 2 days ago, I took the older ones, and replanted them in bigger 5 gallon buckets, as they were root bound. Im having a real bad problem on the smaller of the two older ones. The leaves are drying and curling and coloring real weirdly!! I though it was nutrient burn at first, but I flushed 2 times and havnt been feeding it. It doesnt seem to get better. Ive got pictures so anyone know what it could be. Please help. You can really tell on the last picture, also look down and you can see were it is real bad. Thanks for any replys yall. Well thats all i got for now. Peace!

how has your humidity been lately? you said it was around 30%? if you expect the temperatures to drop in the winter so will the humidity respectively. i heard 50-60 in veg was a good goal to shoot for.

My humidity has gotteb higher.. Its up at 60-70%. Mostly becuz my ballast crapped out so i got cfls keepin them goin till i get the new one, and the temps are down to 70's so relative humidity skyrocketd.. Ill post some new pics when i get the new ballast in. There hasnt been much growth with the cfls.

It could be PH burn are you monitoring it?, what type of water are you using Tap R/O etc... 1000 watt to CFL's man you had the sun in there and now your growing with some candles you need to get some adequate lighting in there if you have money a dehumidifier if it stays in the 60% range for flowering that will be trouble.

Cool thanks for the input dapio. The problem mustve just been nute burn, i flushed the plant out and reduced the feeding and it has stopped. Ya, as for having to switch to cfl sucks big time. The new ballast will be here wed though.

Got some news for ya'll, I switched to flowering about 5 days ago. I know im still under cfl's but i wanted to sex em before the new ballast got in cuz im runnin out of room with my big plant. Well, Im pretty sure my big plant(Green Crack) is female. I swear i can see a white hair coming out of one of the nodes. It's a lil early to tell still and i dont want to jynx it but I think its female(FUCK YA, knock on wood). Ill post a pic of the white hairs once you can really tell its female.. Thx yall peace

Hey everyone, heres a new update. Turns out the big one is female, Its my Green Crack seed i found in a bag of it. The other two were male. (except the kinda deformed one, which is undetermined on the sex). Also, i pulled the clone since it came off the male plant. Im making hash out of em now, using the old alcohol technique.

BIG PROBLEM!!! Ive got major heat issues. I just got the ballast in 2 days ago. Put in the HPS bulb, and The HPS bulb is just burning the room up. Im talking about 100+. Ive opened the door up, and can get it to like 98!! IDK what to do, Ive got that cool tube which has a 6inch inline fan on it, but it doesn't have another intake coming from the outside which ive seen alot of people do. Then i have the 4 inch inline fan which seems stronger than the 6inch, or its just a cuz its only 4 inches that it feels stronger. Im stumped, idk what to do, except shell out 400 bucks for a portable a/c unit. Unless theres a way to put a 5000 btu window unit in it?? even then those are 100 bucks, and im really really broke right now. Idk what to do, im thinking of putting the MH bulb in there since its alot cooler when i run that, but thats less effective in flowering. IDK WHAT TO DO!! AHH!! Please if any one can help with any good ides please..
