hey guys, popped above soil about 24 hrs ago, wondering if I need to have them shaded a bit, the bulb is about 5 1/2 feet from the seedlings. Should I have them covered by a paper towel or something? Just scared that this is too powerful and will kill them.

Put them under some floros until they are strong, and save yourself some energy consumption!

Yeah definately, typically you want to start in a different area under CFLs or T5s for about a week to 10 days depending on how fast they come up.. put them in rockwool cubes or something and then you transplant to veg room under your big light.

i have a 225w veg light ill use for the next few weeks, thanks guys

simple cfls will work fine, even 225 w is alot

how about my seedling on the far right? it appears it is being weighted down by the seed and growing sideways? anything i can do about this?

you can try and gently remove the seed...it should do it by itself, but if it seems to be stubborn you can help it along.

also youve got streching going really bad especilly for only poking out 24 hrs ago you need to put thse cfls right on top with a fan so they arnt reaching for the light i assure you they will fal over i have wasted countless seeds this way jsut a thought
