X 4
2 lights in each order

around the same price

that would be 8 85 watt dual spectrum IIs totaling 680 watts and no heat problems. I could also spread the light out more so the plants could fill out better.

I feel like the 1000w would center to much heat and energy and actually hurt the plants while the 680w could hit the plants from different angles.

Thoughts? I am going to use about 2 feet deep of soil because I am trying to grow as much as I can on the plants because I will have the room in the flowering tent with 6 in flowering & then the 6 in the veg tent.

Thoughts?

I guess you mean in addition to the 1000w for flowering. yes, CFL's work well for vegging but on a large scale are silly (IMO) just because of the lumens per watt.

If you are vegging a small areay with a couple hundred watts of CFL, as long as they are close and the temps are kept in check they will do just fine.

HPS for flowering. you get a large reflector and air cool it and you're going to get a nice even canopy
