The title pretty much says it, but I am just trying to figure out how far I should keep my 1000w's from my plants from start to finish of flower.. Any input would be great. Thanks guys. :joint:

depending on their age, use the back of the hand test. if you can hold the back of your hand at the same distance as your plants for a minute or so, it's ok for your plants too. mine are usually 18", sometimes a little less.

Just use a thermometer or your hand, if its too hot raise the light. An air cooled reflector or oscilating fan(s) aimed at the light would be a good investment. Also remember that plants will want more light/ more intense light later in bud. Plus its also strain dependant. Some strains can handle more light that others, so u might want to find out the needs of the strain(s) your working with. O and five feet is awfully far.
