1000watts.,.........need help

I know ive been asking some wild ass qustions but this is something u have to get right as much as u can the first time.. wanted to know is it ok to use a 1000w hps for the whole grow process......how long should a 1000w light hang from the seedlings

you could use 1000 for the hole growing thing. But be careful not have plants to close to light. using 1000 would speed things up and this depends on how long you have lights on and ph and water ppm and food you feed it . everyne uses 16 hr on some go 18 on then when budding go to 12 on 12 off and yes you can use it from start to finish hope this helps take from

thanks man..........i want to get a mh or flourecent system to veg with but it looks like i might be stuck just using my 1000w hps......i have to exhaust fans (bathroom type exhaust) and plan on going ebb n flow....if i just get my can filter with extra fan could i pull off a succeful first grow

it will burn seedlings and clones i heard. I never used a 1000w lamp though (400w) so keep lamp a great distance

I'm guessing by bathroom type fan you're talking about an inline fan. Those will work great to cool off your light! Get some air ducting (like $30 for the good kind) to connect to your light and you're golden!

i use a 1000w light through the whole grow (a dual fixture/air-cooled -- 400w MH and a 600w HPS). and it gets hot, hot , hot. I have a 170CFM vortex fan dedicated to just cooling the lights and a 440 CFM fan exhausting my box and sometimes I still have to fight to keep the temps down. I have tried both putting seedlings directly under them and also used floros to get some roots started before placing them in the system. I keep the lights about 3.5 to 4 feet! away from the seedlings and they still blanch a little bit so be warned....

Daylight spectrum - 6500K - Vegging...
Red Spectrum - 2500K - Flowering...

Thats all you basicly need to know about that to start with them.
The more you have the better, keep them as close to the plant as you can without burning it.

HPS is good for vegging but great for flowering. I would suggest letting the seedling/clone grow under some CFs daylight and then kick the 1000HPS on about 2 weeks into it. Maybe you can use the CFs as supplemental lighting throughout the life of the plant. But 1000w should cover a nice area.

i used 1000wt.hps my whole run my first grow but i had prob. with ph bal. so they were not very tall. maybe 21/2 ft. was not impressed. this is my 2nd. grow.with a 400wt mh.i veged. for 60 day for 24hr a ady. the last week i went to 1000wt hps blue spect. at end of veg.plants were 3 1/2ft tall. but remember to flower under red spec. light. hop this helps good luck
