to slow this train down a bit - is that 100 actual watts or 100 equivalent watts? a 100 actual watt cfl bulb would be about 9 inches by 3 inches - really big - whereas a 100 equivalent watt bulb is only 23 actual watts and is a little bigger than a normal incandescent bulb. i'm betting you have the smaller light. all of this to say that you need a lot more light than that. check out the lighting stickies on this site.
as for electricity cost per day: actual watts times hours per day light is on divided by 1000 times price per kilowatt-hour (usually around 10 cents, but some areas can be a lot more). so a 100 actual watt light running 12 hours per day will cost 12 cents a day to run.
