Has anyone ever used a 100watt outdoor light for seedlings or clones? I found one with the buld at Menard's for 60$
 
MH should work fine. I've never bought one intended for outdoor use though so I can't say from experience.
 
What kind of housing is the bulb in? or is it just a mh bulb.. because im not a 100% but i always thought even a small wattage HiD light needs a ballast to start up.
 
Ballast is part of the top enclosure. It's like a street lamp. Has a sandblasted glass around the bulb but I was thinking just like a verticle
 
you'll be fine as long as it's ballasted..if the bulb is hid and has a mogul base..good luck ..be safe
 
Unless your getting it for free you should just get a 100w MH mini sunburst hydrofarm fixture - about $100 delivered
Does a nice job for vegging on the cheap
