The dead leaves in the cola probably led to bud rot. I've had it happen outside from that. Sorry to see for you, hope it's just the one plant.

Unfortunately it isnt

Once its dried, hold it up high with some light and crack the bud. If spores pop out and float (not trics just falling) is a good way I check for PM other than a visual. You can also smell it pretty easy once its jarred. Also try submerging an affected bud into h202 bath and look for the white foam. If the plant had PM at a point in its life, the bud probably has it.

Good luck frank I hope there's no PM cause the bud looks nice! It's hard to tell from the pictures. Things I've done to prevent PM are..

-using silica product to feed plant with
-adding uva during flower
-keeping consistent day and night temps
-controlling humidity with a dehu+humidifier
-adding fans so there is no dead air stuck anywhere
-baking soda boxes sitting around the house
-bought a steam cleaner and cleaning the tents out more often
-remove some fan leaves during flower If the foliage is too dense
-standalone hepa air purifier
-intake filter on tents

As you get better the buds get bigger in this hobby then a whole new set of obstacles present itself. Sucks when it gets you down but there's always next time!!

Yeah, looks like bud rot to me. One of the reasons I'm pretty cautious about dead leaves if they're attached to thicker bud sites.

I’ve noticed even cutting off leaves the little stem left behind will start to cause rot so some reason so I make sure if cut them off as close to stem as possible

I think a lot of the time, rot is the cause of the dead leaves, not the result of them.

That's a good point. If I see upper fans dying off in my case it's usually light stress from me being greedy with light. The sugar leaves seem to be the biggest problem for me when they're in a really tight cola and start yellowing from the tip in to the bud in really late flower. I've never thought much about it being mold causing it, always chalked it up to a deficiency in late flower or just senescence as I run my plants pretty long to get them ripe. I'll try and grab a bud to cut open next time I see the tips yellowing and see if any other issues are inside.
@Frank Nitty sorry to hear it's multiple plants. You always seem to have a couple tents going with some nice plants, hope it's isolated and you get it cleaned up as easily as possible.

When I see dying bud leaves in late flower, it's generally a tell-tale sign of bud rot, so I always crack the bud open and inspect in that situation. 99% of the time there is the very beginning of rot, so I'll chop the branch below that bud, which will help keep rot from spreading.

Another vote for Botrytis. No fun. Seen it ruin a few outdoor gardens, due to rain. If you are indoors, you need to address your environment's temperature and humidity. Also, increase air movement. Too much moisture is getting trapped in the flowers (buds).
