Can someone please explain why this guy thinks 10/14 produces the biggest yields in cannabis? Try a little harder than the typical short-answer troll comments, i really would like to know. There is so much bullshit info on the internet and the hardest part is sorting out the facts and the notso-facts. He starts talking about it around 3:40

The only sure fire way to get the bed light timings, is to understand you plants origins , what its enviroments are at its origins and copy them indoors,,every one knows outdoor yeild beats indoor yeild ,,,,simple,,,,thatsvthe whole quest for indoor growing , to replecate what happens outdoor,,

So around 4:20 (actually 4:10 heh) dude states that 12/12 forces "Semi-Veg" which results in Buds/Flowers, More Leaf, and Stem Stretch. So, his "Abbreviated Diminished Light Schedule" uses 10 hours on and 14 hours off. ---- So this is 10 hours of light/energy gathering. And 14 hours of growing time. I think it's worth a shot; I think because, telling the plant that winter is arriving faster than normal, it will put flowers at the priority. I think that if the plant goes through veg and has tons of energy to use throughout flower; you don't need so much light/energy gathering time. Dude also says the stretch and leaf increase will be less under his "ADLS" --- "It really concentrates on growing flowers" --- For the last two years, I've been flowering at 11/13, so I might as well go down to 10/14. Peace. (Also Dude goes down to 9/15 on the final week). --- Warning: If you're going to try this, you need to have fantastic air circulation. Flowering rooms get very humid in dark conditions.

I'm on 10on/14off right now (I've actually been on it for 1-2 months, I was mistaken above) It's going well... I'm not sure if there is a yield increase b/c my plants aren't mature yet. However, the Cheesedawg colas are the biggest I've ever seen, but they are also getting prime real-estate (right under my light). So.... who knows right now, but; plants do flower happily under 10/14.

I understand this answer, thanks @mrCRC420, to be correct. Well I want to further the discussion to include humidity, and the actual spectrum of the lights...
Here's an example from SWIM
Testing 2 lights, one is a 5000k veg light, the other a standard Blurple flower light. SWIM has more than enough cabs, and so has the flower chamber with the blurple light and then a veg tent with the 5000k veg light and then 2 smaller veg cabs with cfl bulbs. First week of flower and SWIM is currently only testing for breeders.
I have read, I can't find the link, that high humidity, and basically Veg conditions for early bloom are optimal for growth. So in SWIM's situation, the cycle of life would proceed as follows:
1. Germ/clone cab
2. Teen cab
3. 5000k veg light tent with a timer set at 13-11 for 2 weeks at 65%~ humidity
4. Blurple Bloom Tent 12/12 till finish.
(Optional?)Then if SWIM has room, they can throw a finishing plant under the 5000k light at 11-13?
Now not only would that sequence allow for a bigger yield/frontier buds, but the early flower tent will catch any males a bit earlier.
Did I err in my thinking about this?

Here's an indoor scenario. We base our 24 hour day. Indoors its possible to create 30 hour days. 15 hours light, 15 hours dark. Or any make up you can think of. If your in a 100% outside light proof room, You control everything. Its hard adjusting your schedule to that. After a week its totally off sync with the outside world. But if you start your girls out with continuous light in veg... They don't know day & night. Have tried in past, was a fun experience. :~}
