12-1 lighting schedule, has anyone actually tried this?

If you look back, you'll see I replied on page 3 or 4 when the thread was first posted.

edit: And you're right, going straight from a 16 or 18 hours photoperiod to 12 is stressing factor and the plants grow looking for the light. I gradually reduce photoperiod when heading towards 12/12 allowing the plant to accumulate more and more flowering hormones.

I just can't see why you'd keep lowering the photoperiod once the flowering response is well on and triggered. I'd rather have my plants producing more sugars, and I can't say this with absolutely certainty, as cannabis can fit in both C3 and C4 pathways depending on it's climatic conditions, but cannabis C3 grown in abundance (water/nutrients/CO2) can continue photosynthesis indefinitely compared to it's cousins who can gladly grow in desertic conditions. This can only be achieved by closing stomata during the hottest parts of the day and storing CO2 at night, because CO2 retention becomes the limiting factor to photosynthesis, not sunlight.
My edit was long and people posted, so I'm quoting myself.

edit: sorry for exploding your non-comprehensive brains. Your improvements are based on adding limiting factors. That's sound science there!

lol your apology is accepted good sir,
thc is roduced during dark hours and degraded during light hours,
the flowering hormone is best brought on by dark hours and postponed with extended light hours,
to me seems during flowering the darkness is a good thing.
the best quality highest yielding plants are grown out doors, and at the end of the season when the days are drawing in and daylight lessens,
is this de ja vu?
i can accept even understand your scepticism i was at first too but then i decided i had nothing to lose but to try it,
but thats the thing you wont even try it, because youre trained to do what youve read to do.

I think you misunderstood. Limiting factors are a bad thing.

I don't disagree with 12-1 as it's just a trick, but it's also adding a limiting factor.

No matter how much you improve EVERYTHING ELSE nutrients, substrate, temp, environment, the limiting factor (low light) is slowing you down and robbing you of your yield.

You may still wind up with some dank smoke, but you will have less of it and that's a FACT.

THC is not produced in the dark and while degraded in the light, it's also produced by light. The sphere is there for a reason, it redirects all available photons to the exact middle of the trichome, guess why, to be trigger to produce THC.

edit: What I said earlier is that: in good climatic conditions, cannabis will use every last second of light available. If you've induced a long enough darkness period to trigger flowering, then give her as MUCH LIGHT AS POSSIBLE, while maintaining a flowering state.

when my yield is in i will post the weights, that will be the deciding factor for me,
before you knock it afka try it,
if you wont try it then move to the next topic lol.

I was just trying to get you guys to admit you had no idea what you were talking about.

You have nothing to compare with, so your weight means nothing.

Like I said, you'll get some good smoke, just less of it than if you had more light.

how does weight mean nothing is that not what this entire op is about?
please do me a favour seriously, fuck off!

your opinion bro .. as you have nothing to base it on .. i've done the side by side with clones .. one 12/12 the other diminishing light .. i got less then 2gms more from the plant under dim light .. but saved on my hydro and bulb life .. so whats your point?

Lol, your technique is opinion with no evidence.

Weight means everything to you? Good turn on the lights. I'm glad you finally understood you're decreasing your harvest weight.

Lets see, if you for example, were to yield 20 grams less, only 20 grams.

at 10$ a gram, or lets say just for the example 5$ a gram.
That's 100$. How much did you save on electricity?

but i didnt get any less ... i got less then 2 grams MORE from the one on the dim schedule lol gosh you really dont read very well do you lol

ok so im uk so bear with,
i use 3 lights,
so each light saves 5 hours per day in veg, so 3 lights save 15 hours per day,
over the weeks thats 105 hours saved, over the 4 weeks vag theats 420 hours saved,
now for flower,
each light for the first 2 weeks saves 14 hours ie 11hours instead of 12,
so 3 lights will save 42 hours.
then the next 2 weeks will save 63 hours of light, the next 2 weeks will save 84 hours,
thats a total of 609 hours of power now price the average unit of power for you per hour and times that by 609,

If that's 609 hours of 1kW lamps, that's like 40$. lol.

And just 'cause there's 3-4 idiots ganging up on the one guy bringing botanical fact to the table, doesen't make you guys more right, just makes you a gaggle of morons.

Obviously advanced cultivation on troll-it-up means doing wacky shit without rhyme nor reason, then having people emptily "back it up".
